Reach Truck
In order to keep storage places tidy and to pile up pallets of goods and supplies, a reach truck can be used. The reach truck is available in quite a few kinds: the straddle reach, stand-up reach and the double-deep reach.
The stand-up is the most basic. The truck forks slide under the pallet and move it to the appropriate storage location. The forks slide the pallet into place. This particular type of reach truck is suitable when shelving units are only one pallet deep.
Best for workplaces where the shelving units are deep enough to accommodate two pallets of goods, the double-deep reach truck, which is like the stand-up, is commonly used. This particular version consists of telescopic forks intended to put the pallet at the rear of the shelving unit. This saves having to push the pallet back when one more pallet should go into the same shelving section.
The additional advantage of straddle reaches is that they can both slide under the pallet and grasp the sides too. These are suitable for workplaces where shelving units are accessible in many directions. This particular model is best in conditions where goods will not be damaged if the sides of the pallet are grabbed.
Often more than one kind of reach truck is needed within warehouses. Manufacturing facilities and textile companies use different types of reach trucks in their supply areas. The reach truck is not difficult to use and could increase production while maximizing available storage space.
