The forklift is a material handling machinery used to raise and move loads from one location to another. Each and every component of a forklift has a specific function. Different components could be utilized to move the load either horizontally or vertically.
Mast
The components used to lower and lift the load is known as the forklift mast. There are different types of masts utilized for lifting loads to different heights: duplex, triplex, quad and simplex.
Power Supply
There are four various ways you can power a forklift: electric, gas, propane and diesel. The battery is located in the cab under the seat. The propane tank is located on the back of the truck. The fuel tank on diesel and gas forklifts is under the rear of the truck.
Cab
The forklift cab is situated in the middle of the truck. This is where the operator sits and accesses all the controls and informational gauges. The gas pedal, steering wheel, tilting controls, brake and lifting controls are all situated in the cab.
Frame
Carrying all the biggest forklift parts is the frame of the truck. This includes the counterweights situated at the rear which prevents the truck from tipping over when loaded. The frame consists of the overhead guard which protects the operator. The undercarriage holds the wheels, driveshaft and axles.
