When the time comes to pick the right warehouse truck, it is a great idea to figure out how high you intend to lift your loads, how much you need to lift, how much space you need to work in and how far you would like to travel. These considerations would really influence your purchasing decision and help decipher what kind of forklift truck is the ideal one out there to suit your needs and meet your whole expectations.
Normal Aisles
The most cost-effective trucks are pedestrian stackers. These equipment are great for working in standard width aisles and finishing ordinary stacking tasks in a warehouse. They can easily lift cargo of less than 750kg and can stack them to heights of roughly 4.5 metres. Another model known as rider stackers can successfully lift loads to around 6 metres.
Reach trucks are yet a different alternative to think about. They give you much greater load and lift capacities and several models come complete with telescopic forks. This characteristic allows you the ability to stack pallets two deep. For extra flexibility in handling goods, there is a 4-way and a multi-way reach truck that as the name implies, can be driven in four directions. These models are particularly best for handling large and long things like piping, planks and boards.
The counterbalance line of trucks is best for traveling longer distances. They are a great option for stacking jobs, specially block stacking. They are also an ideal alternative for free stacking and stacking cargo that weigh over 2 tonnes.
A Tight Squeeze
The aisle space in a high-density storage operation would usually be a lot narrower, whereas the heights can be somewhat higher too. The Man-up telescopic lift trucks are best used in narrow aisle, high-bay stores. They provide the driver or operator a good view of the stacking process. There are also types called man-up combi trucks. These are fairly versatile in that they can be used for both stacking and order-picking jobs. They can be utilized in narrow aisles or driven all around the warehouse.
