To make each and every Hyster machine safer for the operator as well as the other work site personnel, all Hyster forklifts can be outfitted with many of the standard and optional features. These features include: audible devices, safety lights, ergonomic operator compartments and operator restraint systems.

To help alert other people of a nearby or approaching lift truck, visual safety devices like strobe lights can help. There is a low-mounted strobe light that has a shield to help avoid the light shining into the driver's eyes.

Audible warning devices like reverse operation alarms, that automatically sound when the truck is in reverse, warn others of the presence of a lift truck within the area. A rear drive handle with horn enables the driver's hand to be secure when reversing. This inboard handle protects the operator's hand in case of impact and the handle has a horn that enables the operator to sound the horn without moving their hand to the main steering wheel.

The operator restraint systems help to keep the operator safe in the event of a lift truck flip over. The restraint system works by keeping the driver's torso and head in the cab of the forklift that will help them to avoid serious injury. Anti-Cinch Seat Belt and Hip Restraints are basic features on all existing units of Yale/Hyster forklifts. For older Yale/Hyster forklifts, safety restraint systems are available for installation on nearly all models.

The Hyster StanDrive E30-40HSD2 series of lift trucks offers excellent ergonomics. Available in 4,000 or 3,000 pound capacities, these types of trucks are very strong and versatile, as well as ergonomically designed to enhance driver comfort and improve production. To increase operator comfort and visibility, the controls allow the driver to stand in side-stance or at 45 degrees.
